I believe that there should be an effort to use the data available at the real Big Data owners and merchants - Google, Facebook, Amazon and Apple. The big corporations should to pay their taxes in data - not just with cash.

One important outcome of this interesting discussion is that sometimes you just have to avoid re-inventing the wheel. It might cost, but adopting solutions from research organisations and/or businesses could do the trick.
